What Is a Heavy-Duty Joint Repair System?
Heavy-duty joint repairs are designed for industrial environments where forklifts, pallet jacks and other wheeled traffic repeatedly cross concrete joints. A successful repair needs strong edge support, compatible repair material and sufficient flexibility or movement capability depending on the joint type.
A joint repair system is a combination of preparation, edge reconstruction and an appropriate joint treatment. It should be selected for the slab condition, movement, wheel loads and required reopening time. The repair material and joint filler may serve different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Before work starts, agree on the repair extent and how traffic will be diverted. The installer should remove weak concrete and contamination, form sound repair boundaries and follow the selected system's application and curing requirements. After reopening, monitor the repair where wheels turn or cross at speed. Recurring movement or changes in slab level may require further investigation.
