What Flooring Works Best in Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Facilities?

Pharmaceutical and laboratory flooring must support hygiene, cleanability, chemical resistance and controlled environments. Seamless epoxy, polyurethane and specialist antistatic systems may all have a role depending on the process and compliance requirements.

Start with the facility's own requirements. Record room use, cleaning agents, spill risks, traffic, environmental controls and any relevant client specification. Production rooms, laboratories, stores and circulation areas may require different finishes and details.

Assess how the floor meets walls, drains and equipment bases, and how it will be cleaned and inspected. If static control or specialist resistance is required, confirm it as a defined performance requirement rather than assuming an ordinary resin floor provides it. Obtain supporting system documentation and agree on acceptance checks with the responsible facility team. Flooring selection should be coordinated with the wider fit-out and operating procedures.
