How to Repair Cracks in Industrial Concrete Floors

Concrete cracks should be assessed before they are simply filled over. Some cracks are static, while others continue moving. The correct repair may involve resin injection, flexible repair systems, joint reconstruction or structural remediation. The key is understanding why the crack formed.

Before choosing a repair material, establish why the crack formed and whether it is still moving. Record its location, width, surrounding damage and any change over time. Cracks associated with settlement or structural movement need an appropriate technical assessment before cosmetic work begins.

A repair plan should distinguish stable defects from movement that must be accommodated. It should include removal of weak material, preparation of sound edges and a compatible repair system. Simply filling a moving crack and covering it with resin may allow it to reappear. Check the completed repair and adjoining floor after the area returns to service, particularly where heavy wheels cross the defect.
