How to Choose a Slip-Resistant Industrial Floor

Slip resistance should be designed around the actual environment. A dry warehouse may require a different finish from a wet food plant or commercial kitchen. More texture can improve traction but may also make cleaning harder, so the correct balance between safety and hygiene is important.

Specify the conditions the floor must handle: dry foot traffic, water, oils, food residues or other contaminants. Include cleaning methods, drainage, footwear and how people move through the area. A finish that feels textured when dry may behave differently when contaminated.

Balance traction with cleanability and obtain relevant system information for the intended use. Discuss a sample or trial area and agree on the acceptance method with the facility team. Texture alone does not remove slip risk; prompt spill control, suitable cleaning and maintenance remain essential. Review high-risk transitions, ramps and entrances as part of the same assessment.
